Alive or Just Breathing is a tad overrated. My favorite is prolly The End of Heartache now. I like Howard a lot, but his clean singing got REALLY gay on this record and his screams were less aggressive and the songwriting sucked, riffs sucked, everything sucked.

I thought these were maybe his best clean vocal melodies yet, although I agree his screams seemed weaker. I think if you're looking at this from the perspective of big, borderline-mainstream NWOAHM then the song-writing on this is pretty great. Plus, there were a few songs with great riffing and heaviness (Take Me Away, I Would Do Anything, Reckoning), but mainly this is about catchy, fun metal to me. And again, I can definitely see why a lot of people don't like it.

IMO, all the songs you mentioned suck, but thats just me. By fave from here is "A Light in a Darkened World". I think melodies for Killswitch were best on their previous two albums. This album is really panzy, very soft, the lyrics suck, they lost their edge, they sold out completely.

people just need to think and realise that getting back an old vocalist isn't going to do shit

hey I agreed with you there, the vocalist isn't what caused the devolving from metalcore to mainstream/NWOAHM

oh, well shout it from the mountain tops man, the world needs to hear!!!

edit: because it does really bug me when people say stuff like "band sucks bring jesse back and everything will rule again" bc they would still sound exactly alike, and in my opinion probably even worse

I agree that a vocal switch wouldnt necessarily fix them but as of right now I recall reading an article on UG that insinuated that Howard's position might be in jeopardy and that the band has been talking to Jesse. Whether it happens or not no one knows, but this band has so much potential as seen on TEOH maybe they just need to change things up a bit to respark their interest in making decent music again

This album is ok but compared to their past released this is a definite crash and burn. Hopefully they redeem themselves when they make a new record.

Oh my god, this is so generic and boring. Don't get me wrong, I loved everyone of their previous releases, but this was just disappointing. Still, there's some good tracks around; "Starting Over", "A Light in a Darkened World" and "Save Me" is alright...
