Man, I'm glad I bought this. Easily the most listened to of my collection.
I just found out that in Spanish castle magic when Jimi says
"It's just a half days ride on my magic dragon fly"
He is talking about the Old "Spanish Castle" Theater in Portland Oregon where I live. It makes sense too. Because Hendrix lived in Seattle and it's about a half days drive to Portland from Seattle.
(just a little trivia)

i find this album amazing as it has all the classics on it like purple haze foxy lady. I find the final track amazing. hendrix could play the guitare better with his teath than most people can with their hands. In my veiw hendrix is a legend

This was the first Hendrix cd I ever heard, it turned me on to the other hendrix albums which I now consider a staple of life. Great compilation and well worth 10 bucks

Oh I almost forgot, why doesn't it contain "machine gun?" that is one of his best works.

his main lyrical influence was bob dylan, he was geat at psychedelic writing and humour,AND his voice came leaps and bounds in confidence and quality in very little time. Look at the songs "manic depression" to "electric ladyland" . just my opinion

Some of his songs were really terribly written. Others were awesome.

Much as I hate Punkbass4957OMG, I have to agree with him here. Anyone who thinks Jimi is a good singer is confusing his voice with his guitar.

I really don't like Jimi Hendrix's voice. He can't sing. Also he sucks at writing lyrics and singing with to a melody.

I think its a matter of getting used to his voice. it becomes more enjoyable after you get used to it. And if you dont like his songwriting, you have a serious problem

Jimi doesn't have a technically good voice but it suites the music well and I enjoy it. So really, I don't give a shit if he doesn't have opera pipes. I love this album and my fav tracks are

1. Bold as Love

2. Castles Made of Sand

3. Little Wing

4. All Along the Watchtower

5. Vodoo Child

6. Red House

7. Hey Joe

if this had Spanish Castle Magic and Machine Gun on it, it'd be perfect imo.

But hey, I just ripped those two songs and stuck em before the last track. works for me

best 'best of' album [2]
