i understand that Mingus has been there the whole time and its essentially his band along with Swans im just saying that Mingus does not have any distinguishable traits and i believe he could be easily replaced, unlike swan or mess

but he might be integral to their songwriting. just because someone could learn and play all his parts doesn't mean he doesn't contribute anything unique to the band.

i dont think songwriting is a strong suit of the band in the first place. so if we're assuming mingus is integral to the songs theyve put out, i would say him leaving wouldnt be so bad.

"ideas and thought process" doesnt mean a whole lot if its not affecting the finished product. and at the end of the day, thats what we're judging. the finished product. songwriting has never been a strong suit of the band. and in terms of drumming, dgd has always been solid, but nothing stand-out. so thats why i dont see mingus as essential to the band.
