"but maudlin never made the same album twice"

True (if you count Bath/LYBM as one album), but every maudlin album sounds like a different shade of maudlin, whereas every Kayo album (apart from Choirs/Dowsing and Gamma/Hubardo) sounds like a totally different band.

"Wow a prog metal band with shit artwork, not that it's all that important."

Haha, this is one of my favorite pieces of album art ever

Since I learned that the chances that I get to hear Excerpt From 6,000,000,000,000 miles live at the end of August are high I'm seriously trying to get my hands on a vinyl copy of this...

...one of you guys own it on vinyl. I know it. And I'm sure for the right price you'd be willing to send it over to little old me.

Alright, I get where you're coming from I guess. Isos are cool but yeah I agree, it's hardly a novice concept.

You seriously have to hear this. Everything about this album is just magnificent. It takes a big step away from the metal influence present on bath/lybm but it still is very distinctly maudlin. It's so damn close to a 5.0 for me but I just can't do it yet. It hasn't had that listen yet.

yeah what you were saying regarding the accessibility made me pretty stoked to check this out. i love the inclusion of metal in their sound but i probably prefer the softer, more melodic stuff

If you prefer the softer more melodic stuff then boy are you in for a ride.

Excerpt is a definite 6,000,000,000,000/10. Laboratories however is like a 6,000,000,000,100/10.

Also what the hell listen to this you scrub.
