As an album it's not very good... It's basically Eminem spitting verses over good beats... the lyrics are weak, but I trully believe he was just having fun on this album. If you like Em's verses and accents, you'll dig it. If you're looking for a great conceptual and atmospheric record, then you'll probably hate this.

its not all bad, it really is the accents and average beat selection though. em's always had a bad ear for beats, but the rhyme schemes on "3:AM" and "Stay Wide Awake" are incredible. i think he only made Relapse just to prove he can rap like underground rappers

what the fuck is everyone's problem w/ this album? granted the accent is shockingly different at first and a bit annoying, but don't even care about it as much when i hear the rhymes. this is OLD em, it really is. he's rapping about killing people, raping bitches, etc. again. why the fuck didn't people rejoice when this shit came out? it is really a very funny, twisted, and non-mainstream record. how does recovery have a 3.5 and this has a 2.6? i really don't get everyone's beef w/ this album. if not the accent that bugs some people, others might say the songs are inconsequential and don't really have any meaning behind them, which is a fair point - HOWEVER, the slim shady lp has a 3.9 and maybe 5 songs on that shit mean anything. deja vu and beautiful are great, meaningful songs on this one, but who gives a shit if that's it. sometimes i'd just flat out rather hear em spit about being a rapist/murderer than about his personal issues (although his deeper songs are still some of my favs, don't get me wrong). plus, this album SHITS on recovery beats-wise, so i really don't understand everyone's problem w/ this.
