One of Immortal's better albums.

It's kind of an unpopular opinion on here but I do like their last two probably more than anything else they've recorded.

I do like this and Pure Holocaust quite a bit, though.

A lot of people like Sons... a whole lot, but I think their older stuff like this (with the exception of At The Heart Of Winter) is generally better.

this album is surprisingly forgotten by many despite being as good as it is. I like how immortal have always treated BM as a joke. quite foggy production could be a downside for many people though.

I wouldn't really say that they treat it like a joke. I think that they just have fun with what they're doing.

yeah they definitley dont treat black metal like a joke. maybe in the last few years they've lightened up a bit, but from this album to Blizzard Beasts they were definitley serious about what they did.

Yeah I mean they definitely take they're music seriously. Do they have a lot of fun with it? Hell yeah, but I don't think they really joke about it.

i think they're pretty tongue in cheek about it in comparison with their contemporaries. i don't actually think all black metal is a joke, a few of the musicians have something interesting to say. Perhaps I give Immortal too much credit if they can honestly watch The Call of the Wintermoon and not crack up. If they had a high degree of respect for their lyrics, I think their videos would be accordingly reverent, but they scream comedy. From Abbath's interviews and general demeanor I would think he has a good sense of humour. I'm only referring to the stereotypical BM lyrical themes here, not the actual sound of the music (which Immortal probably pay a great deal of attention to). If you still disagree with me, that's fine, but I'd like to maintain a degree of respect for Immortal.

i disagree with you because you're wrong. the video to Call Of The Wintermoon was serious. their lyrics, image and everything was serious. now looking back on it Abbath obvious sees it as a bit silly
