I see that this is very stripped down tbh and the melodies are what keep this going. So yes, i totally understand how you dislike this, but man Amorphis? They are just THAT great and they need to be stripped down, otherwise they aren't Amorphis anymore. The beautiful melodies, amazing vocal performance (the growls are very strong and the clean vocals are just pure awesomeness), and nice song structures, I just can't seem to get it how you dislike them.This Message Edited On 05.04.09

What, in Wizard's and Hawks' opinions, is the cream of the crop in melodeath? I'm asking out of curiosity, because I love the genre but there's nothing I hate more than an album that seems amazing initially then loses its replay value after I become familiar with the genre.

Well my favorite melo-death bands are Dark Tranquillity, Into Eternity, Amorphis, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Hypocrisy. I'm not an expert on melo-death by any means though.
