this album is too bad. However it was the beginning of downward spiral following Pyromania and Hysteria.

Hysteria was the beginning of the downward spiral, but (for some people) it was just like Metallica's Black Album or Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss (I agree with neither) they were both awesome albums (that's what I agree with), just like Hysteria. Only the difference between Def Leppard and Slayer is that Def Leppard never released a decent enough album after a string of crappy ones.

I really don't have any interest in post-Hysteria Def Leppard. At least the first few albums had an enjoyable cheese to them... Hysteria sort of dropped the 'enjoyable' for me. Considering the kind of reviews the later albums get, I've never cared to look into them. The review, as ever, is great though.

Thanks metalstyles. Their next release also does not have a review in the Sputnik database, so I'll add it and that will be that.

Surprised you haven't heard this Croc. It's a definite step down on what came before it. Re-release? Any idea why?

Thanks Ross (you've been quiet lately). I get the feeling the graph may have been ruind by 1 user with multiple names. That can only be one person; Kane!

Thanks Nagrarok. I think I'll end my Def Lep discography run after the next one that I have already written.

Thanks Conor. And fair enough comment re: Def Lep after 'Hysteria'. 3 is a fair rating.

Ditto for your rating Trey. See my replies to metalstyles & Nagrarok regarding my reviewing of their discog.

Why do I not look at the next page sometimes?

sspedding, while 'Adrenalize' is clearly the beginning of the downward spiral, I definitely do not think it is "too bad".

Good comparison Conor. I can't really comment on the Slayer one as I have not given them an in-depth listen through all their albums, but re: Metallica, I totally agree with the Hysteria/Black album comparison... No matter what one rates them, it's simply a personal opinion.

It's funny you word your comment that way Spamue1, because after I heard 'Slang' which was their next studio release of originals after 'Adrenalize', I totally dropped off them. All the reviews of the subsequent albums actually made me NOT want to hear any of 'X' or 'Euphoria'. It was probably the cover album 'Yeah' (which got some decent reviews here & there) that belatedly made me come back.

Well they re-released Hysteria ages ago, and I read they plan on Re-releasing Pyromania and this one with added disc full of live stuff etc.

I always been skeptical of this one so I held back, I'll definitley give it a listen when I find it one day.

Oh righteo. Now that you mention it, I have seen the recent 2 disc edition of Hysteria. Interesting, but I would have left it at Hysteria & Pyromania.

Having said that, the added disc could be interesting for a couple of reasons:

(1) They do still play 2 or 3 songs from this album live.

(2) I have to wonder if there were much more rawer throwback songs that were left off of Adrenalize because they didn't fit with the more more polished tracks.

Then again, some of them would have been usd for 'RetroActive' which I will be reviewing next.

Cool as. Yeah I'm only holding back on this one just to hear it more polished production wise. I like remastered sound, Pyromania is was too quiet compared to my other music. This Message Edited On 05.01.09

To be honest Croc, I'm unsure you want 'Adrenalize' to be more polished than it already is. On many tracks, it is way too polished.

As for your Pyromania comment, I can't say I agree (I have the album on both vinyl & CD) as the slightly rougher edges help many of the tracks on that LP. If it's too quiet, TURN IT UP!

I 'DEF'initley see where you are coming from, but from experience remasters have just made everything rather cleaner and louder without sacrificing the original album.

Fair enough... I can't say you're wrong since I don't think I have a single remastered album in my collection. If I do, I wouldn't have heard the original to compare it to, so wouldn't know any better.

i just realised that was a typo. It was supposed to say it isn't too bad but it was the beginning of the end for Def Leppard.

Haha. Don't you love it when typo's come out meaning exactly the opposite to what was intended?

And fair call on the comment.

yeah you are probably right Davey, I don't like it when people do that (and I'm pretty sure Kane doesn't - he just gets banned a lot)

I have been quiet lately haven't I, truth is I havent really had a lot of free time of late, should change soon though and I'm planning a few reviews in the coming weeks; although with my exams looming and then a holiday after that they may be my last in a while.

Ahh well, I'll look forward to those reviews Ross. I hope your holiday is out of Britain because looking at your weather from afar is depressing me. I wasn't going to take any jumpers/jackets with me & now I'm considering taking 2.

The weather has been great Davey...except for yesterday, I dunno what Britain you're looking at. Although a jacket or two would probably be a good idea given the uhh unpredictable nature of it.

The past week has been about 16 degrees celsius as a maximum over there from what I have been reading. If that is "great", I have no idea how you live there. It's almost winter here and we're on about 18-20.

And 2-5 overnight!? Come on, it's nearly summer!

It better warm up or else I'm gonna freeze my tits off. LOL!

Although, I must admit that the weather looks fine as Chelsea & Fulham put 3 in the back of the net in the first 20 minutes of their game. Schwarzer ain't a happy man... He has hardly let a goal in over the past 2 months.
