Aye. I wasn't ranting either lololol.
Oh and on topic, lol at the 'guttural' vocals on the intro to Coming Alive. This has grown on me over the past week though.

After having this a couple of chances I've found myself willing to bump it up to a 2.5, and a generous one at that. I didn't really expect Chimaira to take this stale turn after the inconsistent Resurrection, which still featured a few real killer tracks.

what happened to these guys?
Impossibility of reason kicked untold amounts of metal ass, and now were left with this?
I'm a sad panda

"Terrorising, manipulating every single thought. As he closes in, my will must be strong...OR HE'LL STAB YOU IN THE FUCKING BACK."
Gotta say Spicuzza's samples/electronic work is great on here. Especially the theremin in "Destroy and Dominate" and the weird electro bit in the "Frozen In Time" bridge.

I gave this a 3 because while it may not have evolved like Chimaira and Resurrection did, it still has a unique sound that I like. It's a bit slowly, but I think they pull it off well. Also I like the addition of the death-growls that Mark Hunter throws in there.

Its a very good album.I'm not a genre-specific person if you think that metalcore fans will only love it. They are different .I saw em live in Dubai last march for the desert rock fest and they really did a good job. From the song 'coming alive' to 'destroy and dominate' its a head-banging fist-punch session.Dont miss out.
Best song: the disappearing sun.

I don't know if I like this album. I've been following this band ever since The Impossibilty of Reason came out and loved every album since but this one doesn't do it for me. I might have to listen another time.

this albums pretty boring...they have mastered break downs...which is infact the only thing good in this album.

I disagree with this review. Chimaira does not even come near of being like other bands out there. This alum is definitely not metalcore, Metal music has changed, this is metal. The metal mainstream is not metallica or megadeath anymore, get with the times.
"Mark Hunter, is no exception to the metalcore stereotypes either, feauturing a rather bland scream and an unrealistic sounding growl. For the most part, the music is comprised of these pitifully overused elements"
This makes me feel that you are not familiar with mark's vocal style at all, he is very versatile with his vocals, especially in this album. "The Infection" is a very enjoyable album, Chimaira has never been more groovy with their riffs, and they have always managed to make a different album, at the same time keep some of the elements which they are known for.

Hey look my old review. :D
Well obviously we have a difference in opinion, get over it. Versatility has nothing to do with appeal. You could have the greatest range in the world and still sound horrible. Also, I'm familiar with every kind of metal vocal style there is.

lol but seriously there's this one really bad band jacktiger reviewed who used like 20 vocal styles, but for an actual good example check out Evereve - Stormbirds, there's lots of styles coming from the one guy it's really cool
