I haven't heard this album Balls, but the album Resurrection( the only one I have heard in full lenght) has a pure metalcore vibe. It's not like 100% or 75% metalcore but there certaintly is that metalcore vibe.

I agree with metalstyles. There is a definite metalcore aspect to the band. But it's mainly metal/groove metal.

I really wanted this to be better than it is

yaah I agree with Phantom, I think that this is best labeled as groove metal mixed with metalcore

I feel you. I was expecting this to suck actually. Reading beforehand that the pace was going to be slowed down and the first song gave me low expectations. Chimaira, is obviously at their peak when they bust out some raging monsters like Pure Hatred and Ressurection. So many taggings these days, I wish everything could just be called metal and end it.This Message Edited On 04.17.09

Well thats true, but if every metal genre would just be called metal than it would be pretty hard to search for good new precise metal, since everything is just......metal all around.

Definitely. But there;s tagging, and then there's the over tagging which is happening now.

I've listened to this nearly 10 times all the way through and it's just not clicked, even the intsrumental was a letdown. Maybe it'll grow.

It's a shame because they are one of my favourite bands, all their albums have been solid or above. And they are definitely better when they play more thrashier style songs. The album might have worked if they'd mixed it up a bit with some faster songs.

I don't know about you guys, but this is brutal.

The first half of the album is intense, especially The Venom Inside. The album doesn't have as much punch as say, Chimaira and Resurrection do, but it is a solid metal record.

On Broken Glass is my favorite song on here.

he wouldn't belong anywhere else because he hardly writes anything outside lyrics, and the last thing we need is another melo-death band

I think Hunter's attempts at "brutal" vocals are kinda poor tbh. Spicuzza's are better.

Oh and he writes some guitar parts.

Mark Hunter would pretty much wrangle Taylor Swift like a rag doll and use her face as a human baseball bat.

And that brings us right back round to the intro of The Flame. Hahaha. I need to know where that sample is from.
