this is more similar to Diadem than Two Hunters, but it's still pretty different. Diadem was more dynamic with its longer songs and more prevalent Weakling influence (the chugging riffs, longer songs, structuring, minor post-rock influence), and is a bit more atmospheric than this. Cascade is basically just no frills atmospheric-ish bm with lots of good leads. No female cleans, no long ambient sections, fewer dynamics; just riffs and melodies the whole time, nothing really "fancy." It's really straightforward but solid material, whereas Diadem was a bit more complicated (and longer-winded) and played around with more ideas. Both are really solid tho.

I tend to agree magicuba. I generally like their first four albums almost equally but I think this one stands ever so slightly ahead of the pack for me. It's got such a unique sound (production wise). Songs are led by slow tremolo-picked melodies that cascade down on top of each other creating awesome progression within each song.
The closing song 'Crystal Ammuntion' is hauntingly beautiful, and may be my favorite WITTR song. Starts out very repetitively but leads into what I consider the climax of the album starting at 1:59ish.Itsounds very triumphant and uplifting. A stark contrast to the rest of the album - an album generally filled with sorrow in my opinion. The "climax" is interrupted by a slow acoustic section in the middle, which helps the listener build up the last bit of their energy for the conclusion of the climax starting at 7:58. The following section feels like a big release of the last bit of energy built up during the slow interlude. The vocals really cap it off, you can hear Nathan scream "Witness this beauty" at 8:37. Unfortunately i cant make out the rest. This climax transitions into a riff/melody starting at 9:15 that closes out the album in a great way - it slowly brings the listener down from the high that was the climax of the album. Guitars fade out as synths take control, and it ends very softly which is perfect.
That song can only really be appreciated in the context of the rest of the album, due to the 1:59-9:15 being (in my opinion) the climax of the entire album.
I really wish they'd release the lyrics to this album
edit: now that I think of it, Crystal Ammunition is structed almost exactly like their most iconic song 'I Will Lay Down My Bones Among The Rocks And Roots'

Aaron from the band told me they're releasing a new edition of Black Cascade in early 2018, said they might include the lyrics (which is what I originally asked about)
Prob means i'll finally be able to get this glorious album on vinyl!

The faster stuff on this sounds so intense and full, it actually makes the new album bother me even more given how it was mixed. This is so natural it kinda kicks the crap out of everything else, sound quality-wise.

My Black Cascade vinyl got destroyed, so I wouldn't mind replacing it and a lyric sheet would definitely be welcome, even though I've pretty much made up my own versions of most of the lyrics on here.

When you add in the extended Cleansing and To Reveal, it's hard for me to not pick TH. Diadem has all that Weakling love tho so I suppose I can't knock anyone who likes it.

Two Hunters is amazing agreed but damn this is close to a 5 and so is Diadem. First 3 albums are all near classics tbh.

Two Hunters has all that atmosphere but this one just has the perfect recording sound. The synths are so ethereal when they come in and the guitars have that perfect, natural-yet-growly tone that lets them be both atmospheric and aggressive. They really did strip down their songs and focus on oomph over atmosphere and i love it.
