"Blood Mountain is plain boring to me most of the time."

Except for a few exceptional songs, yeah it is.

The drumming alone is more exciting than this album

This is mostly Sabbath-meets-Tool

Sabbath-meets-Tool(-with-some-King-Crimson) sounds awesome m/

If the drumming on Blood Mountain is even better than on this then I should check it out soon

Gotta disagree with that. I mean it's obviously faster paced most of the time, but i don't see a higher technical profiency on that record.

Also, Sabbath-meets-Tool is a plus, unlike the middle-of-the-road sludge on BM

The drumming is a little more restrained on this one over BM, but overall I just think this is a much more well written record.

'unlike the middle-of-the-road sludge on BM'

I don't think you really understand what you're saying here, bearing in mind that BM is hardly sludgy at all.

That could be. Still it's not really that proggy compared to this

The drums are more fancy on BM, and the guitars are more fancy on this I'd say. And you gotta remember I think this is the one where the drummer started singing so he would have to keep his shit simple.

Well he's not singing constantly anyways, so I think it's more of him trying to fit the drumming to the music more. In any case, drumming and singing the first riff in Oblivion doesn't sound very easy.

Should have just done uhn-tiss-uhn-tiss-uhn-tiss drumming throughout the song to make it easier to sing agreed

BM just gets my blood pumping more, plus BM also has a better moody toon in the form of Sleeping Giant

The two long tracks are great on this - rest less so
