High praise indeed! Just wondering whether the girlfriend would dig it if she can get into the lighter, prettier side of post-rock - I can imagine these guys get pretty loud live

90% of women are rubbish when it comes to anything outside of acting irrationally.

I read an article that said their brains simply don't have the capacity for it.

Yes go see them live. They're mesmerizing. Loudness doesn't really matter with MONO, its all about the buildup and cathartic climaxes.

Fear Inoculum should resume its role as the toilet for crappy posts

Agreed, this transcendent post-rock album thread should be treated like sacred ground.

Booked my tickets, cheers Scheumke! The support by Alcest and them performing with an orchestra was what swung it for me. Should be sweet

Some of the best moments of my life were listening to Mono perform Ashes in the Snow live in front of me. The climax of that song is an incomparable experience.

Cheers Ben! Let me know how it was. Ashes in the Snow with an orchestra is something that's supposed to be transcending according to a friend of mine who saw them play this album full with an orchestra at Roadburn last year. Only the soulless are not moved by it apparently, and I believe him.
