Whoa, no way. This was mainstream-tallica. AJFA is head and shoulders above this, it was real metallica.

"AJFA is head and shoulders above this, it was real metallica."
True, it was trver than this, but more meh as well
| | | Besides a few songs on here, ( Sad, Dont Tread, Sandman, God That Failed ) this album sucked. I know good hard rock bands that would put this album to shame, and I'm a fan of extreme metal, NOT hard rock. ( Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed ). I'm a metallica fan and know this album was a sell out for money, that's it. BOB ROCK fucked this band. He put Lars on the road shit-dom with these simple drum lines, James on the road to shitdom with his yodeling, and Lars with his wah-wah infection/addiction. BOB ROCK, suck my balls!

Cool entry level album for people that want to hear what the fuss about metal is about. Some songs hold up pretty well, some others not, but still an above average record.
I think that its really good for what it is. But there are far better records from this band, from this time period, and for this metallish hard rock sound.

It's underrated really. Fun album for '91.

I`d say overrated. I used to love this album (it was the second cd i owned, after Avalancha, from HDS), and at the time, this was the most awesome record ever. But when your musical tastes grow (as they should, of course), you realize that this album was good, but not the holy grail that a lot of people claim (as was in my case, some friends are still stuck listening to this, and dont give EVEN Megadeth RiP or CtE a chance), for his timeframe (early 90`s), style and band.
Of course, the record is pretty fun ( i still like a couple songs, like Sad, Wherever, Unforgiven, Wolf and God), but is nothing more than a gateway to better music, that once you cross, you simply dont go back. But a lot of people seem to like being static in that door, and that`s something i can respect, but never share.

i can't respect anyone who only listens to this album. i can't even sit through the whole thing anymore

Me neither. But it still a great first record for anyone trying to get into metal.

some great hits here (and some weaker songs that's true), that's all, no need for baloney

no need to give it a 4

agreed w/ Geadom
it's good but overrated. got me into Metallica. then I listened to the first four albums and realized that this isn't as great as most people made it seem

The Unforgiven bro

one of the few I enjoy anymore. that, sad but true, of wolf and man, the god that failed, through the never. the rest are ok, not bad but not great.

so you're saying nothing else matters doesnt make you weep anymore?
