I still enjoy this quite a bit. I don't have much hope for the re-recordings, though. It seems kind of pointless for them to re-record these songs unless they're going to actually try to improve them. I heard a small clip of one of the re-recorded songs and it sounded worse, not better.

I agree with that. Haven't kept up with these guys, but is their line up the same still? I really don't see the need to re-record at all if they will sound the same

The vocals were one of the more annoying parts for me at least, so I may actually like their old stuff more now. Maybe they're trying to go for the whole After the burial reinvention thing
