I can’t rank this, that would be like picking my favorite child. I’ve had a period where I’ve been obsessed with each song. I guess if I had to pick a least favorite it would be “Death of an Interior Decorator” but even that song is basically perfect... The fact that this album is not only incredibly consistent but also that the flow of the tracks is beyond impeccable raises it into the rare 5.0/5 territory (which, even though I have almost 40 albums rated 5, less than 10 of those get full 5.0 marks from me).

The title track (second half) is my personal favorite part of the album.

I think I listened to this album 15 times in two days. I still want to listen to it a bit more, but it's a rock-solid 4.5 with the potential to be a 5 one day. Outstanding, I'm so happy it exists!

Does the rest of their discography even compare to Transatlanticism? Should I give it a go?

The two albums before and after this are great in their own rights but no nothing touches this really

This is their best, but if you like it, you will probably like the others as well. They're a pretty damn good band.

give up almost reaches it but its a side project of gibbard’s. plans and narrow stairs are also really really great, as are their older albums but I haven’t listened to them in a while to give like an updated opinion and stuff

Yeah, Chris Walla leaving the band was their final death knell.

Yeah, this new song is not good. Kinda disappointed, I liked the singles for Kintsugi.

As wonderful as this album is, over 70 others beg to differ

You ever heard Left and Leaving by The Weakerthans? It's in a bit of a similar vein to this and it's one of my absolute favorite albums of all time, right up there with OK Computer and Crazy on the Weekend

I haven’t heard that no, I’ve been...kind of scared off from The Weakerthans because I see them get the emo label pretty frequently...but if I’m being honest Death Cab themselves are quite emo a lot of the time too.
