So rasputin, I'll use Gorod as an example again just because its one of the few bands we both like.
If you had a band that could play as good as Gorod, and even had 2 ex-members of Gorod, wouldn't it make sense that you would play a similar style? Just saying.
Another thing, I just love how if any band uses vocoder, they're automatically Cynic-rip offs.

It's possible that I would like them, but if they blatantly ripped off Gorod without giving me something new then I would criticise them for it.

Using a vocoder doesn't make them Cynic rip offs, using a vocoder in the exact same way Cynic did does. It gives off the impression that you haven't even heard this to try and defend them for it; the robotic vocals on this sound exactly like the ones used by Cynic, not only in regards to how they sound but how they're used in the particular song.
