"I've heard the next single for these guys is bonus track "Forever". Anyone know if that is true?"
Wikipedia lists it as true. It would not surprise me at all & simply backs up my earlier claims about the additional tracks.

Hmmm, I never thought about that, but I guess you're right with 2 of them. I like the alternate version of 'Fight Inside' in the closer position, but that would mean the slower closer of the standard edition would have to be moved to earlier in the track ordering. Argghhh, why didn't they just release the 14 track version from the get-go?
Dare I ask what you suggest we do with regards to the database? (a) Someone may add the deluxe edition, (b) we can leave it as is OR (c) the 4 tracks can be added as bonus tracks here. The problem with that is that the intro means every track moves down a position. Their debut had a slower version of a previous song too, and it worked really well as a closer, but it wasn't preceded by another slow song. Even if they had kept two of the bonus tracks at the end and moved the others into the album, that would have worked better. I'm sure they didn't release it that way because they need to convince people to spend more money to make up for DL'ing.
I was originally going to come back and add a note about the bonus tracks, but I just never did. I guess the best thing to do would be to add the additional four tracks.

"I guess the best thing to do would be to add the additional four tracks."
I think so... The only problem is where do you put the track 'Intro'? As track 1 or track 11?

Not really a problem. The tracklist has to be in order, so check it out now.

Agreed. Best option. Well done.
'Innocence & Instinct' is another consistent & catchy LP that slightly refines Red's sound. The songwriting is a little more intricate here, with the trademark symphonic flourishes being more subtle. Furthermore, Michael Barnes' vocals have strengthened, helping out both ends of his range, as he moves from menacing to emotional with ease. It must be noted that this rating applies for the 14 track deluxe (released on the same day as the standard) version, since 2 of the 4 extra cuts are genuine highlights. Both 'Shadows & 'Forever' could well vie for best mainstream rock song of 2009! Recommended Tracks: Shadows, Forever, Death Of Me & Nothing and Everything.

Sorry to get off-topic Trey, but have you heard the album from earlier this year by the band Julien-K? It's not in the database & is supposed to be predominantly industrial...

I've never even heard of them. Should I look into it?

No clue. I came across it because the 2 main guys were originally from the band Orgy and then Julien-K. They are also part of the Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) side-project that is about to release an album.

Oh, Orgy kind of sucked (except for their cover song). The Chester Bennington side project is released in October, but the fact that these guys are part of that doesn't give me much hope for Julien-K to be any good.

All Chester Bennington will ever create is shit.

This is a strong 3.5, but I think I need to give it a few more spins before it'll be a 4.

I think this album was in some points so overworked that the songs are no longer so catchy as they were in the previous album.
The songs I would advise are "Start again", "Shadows" and "Ordinary world".

Oh and also "Fight inside".

And *not* 'Death of Me'.

sooo.... another band that's moved away from their nu metal roots... much prefer the debut to this by the sound of things.

Yeah, but you're digging Arkaea so that opinion is understandable.

i think i made clear as day many times that im a massive nu metal fan and any band that continues to be one in these times when its not cool... i have to respect them for sticking to what they wanna do... and even i can't say that Arkaea are a nu metal band anyway, one or two songs lean dangerously towards metalcore (which im not too happy about) but majority is Fear Factory-ish... but you knew that anyway right?

Ha ha, yeah I knew that.
I'm just saying that if you're a big nu metal fan (and digging Arkaea) than it's understandable that you'd like RED's debut more.

Red rocks !
I love the songs "Start again", "never be the same", "Shadows", "Ordinary world" and "Out from under". Those are the best on the album, and are absolutely great !
