When I was a kid, Christian music was all I was allowed to listen to.
You poor, poor guy. My parents brought me up on a combination of world music, 70's music (especially Pink Floyd), Peter Gabriel and plenty of Robbie Williams, and a complete absence of christian music (being Buddhist and all). I've gotta say I'm pretty grateful to them.
I didn't think Thrice were christian, really, I thought they just brought up a few themes and a general message of positivity (a bit like Jesse Leach-era KSE).
I'm embarrassed that I actually know who Kutless and Skillet are. Even more embarrassed to say I've seen them both live
Haha, right there with you... (seen Skillet over 4 times)

im pretty sure you can listen to a lot more than christian bands and Jesus won't hate you. Thrice is definately christian, have you listened to their lyrics?! hahaha
I had my doubts about this album when I heard their singer was gone but i want to listen now.

jesus doesn't hate anyone ever for any reason
and thrice isn't a christian band, rather a secular band with christian members.

haha my parents sound a lot like yours chan. although it's funny cuz i eventually got myself some Linkin Park, and i remember thinking "dude, this stuff sucks just as bad as the Christian stuff!"
but yeah i don't think God cares what anyone listens to for the most part. if Christian bands are putting out lame, unartistic music, God would want you explore some genuinely good, creative music, right?(Linkin Park being therefore no improvement over most Christian stuff)
although i must say, i don't think Skillet is as bad as everyone says. they're at least a notch above Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, etc. and the one time i saw them live, they were better than prob half of most generic rock bands nowadays. This Message Edited On 02.02.09

haha yeah you never know what you're gonna get with the non-denominational label. i've heard that some non-denom churches are ok, but it seems like a lot of 'em exist just to confuse you lol.

when did you see these guys live? they never seem to tour around my area

unfortunately, it seems most churches regardless of denomination tend to have cult-like attributes. i for the most part don't want anything to do with church at the moment, but that's a pretty long story haha.
when did you see these guys live? they never seem to tour around my area
about a year ago in tulsa. they opened for emery.

oh man, that's not far away from me. i must have missed that show somehow. actually come to think of it, i probably saw Emery as the headliner, and immediately forgot about the show(due to Emery's latest album being so lame).
and i agree with you about the church. to me, it's more about an actual relationship with God than anything to do with the church. if you're gonna depend on the church for religion, you'll be pretty frustrated.

the church and all it's denominations is a farce

what does the church have to do with anything. Christianity is about Jesus plain and simple
