will this be able to compete with the Wintersun thread

And then there's that pesky 1.5 of Morningrise running around. Sputnik is in an uproar.

seriously though 'rasputin' i get what you're trying to say and it'd work a lot better if you used words you understood and wrote this like less of a self-righteous jackass. or one of the two. i mean, the album is ridiculously overthetop and the songwriting can easily be seen as haphazard (though I don't see it like that). But you can't go on saying the band "rejects memorable songwriting" because that's like me saying you intentionally use words you don't understand.

okay 'cocaine' (??), I'm quite certain that my usage of the words you pointed out aren't too far off from their actual meanings. Unmemorable vocals? It means the vocals were not good enough to stick in my mind. See: 'forgettable'. If you want it straight from my mouth, sure, I probably aren't as articulate as you think you are, but I try my best and to simply call this review 'awful' is pretty 'attention seeking', as you would call it.

but considering how much of a hissy fit you throw regarding the vocals 'unmemorable' obviously isn't the right word. if they were unmemorable you wouldn't find them to be so faulty. Forgettable implies that they're a nonfactor. I fail to see how they can be arguably the album's biggest fault and yet somehow forgettable. Considering you constantly use words like "Awful" to describe the vocals, it just strikes me as odd that they can somehow be unmemorable. This Message Edited On 01.31.09

Unmemorable means you can't remember them, or that they're insignificant in some way.

Asides from Rody’s terrible vocal performance

ody’s vocals are the ‘icing’ on said circle jerk’s cake, and while he does show promise as a singer who could perhaps do poor imitations of Blind Guardian or Lost Horizon, his attempts at harsh vocals are laughable and destroy any musical appeal the album might have been scrambling for.

Rody Walker’s unfortunate placement behind the microphone. From his unbearable falsetto to his sub-par screams and growls, he makes the album so much worse than it could have been; it’s obvious his growls, which on the odd occasion sound pretty impressive, are forcefully manufactured, and his throat wrenching screams not only sound abysmal but do the album absolutely zero favours. Along with his forgettable vocal performance

These excerpts hardly scream unmemorable to me. How can they be "forgettable" and "destroy" the album's musical appeal at the same time? doesn't make cents. This Message Edited On 01.31.09

You said it yourself. I found them so bad that I did not care for them one bit, leading to a) labelling them as abysmal and b) stopping the music and trying my very best to forget them.

A right, a left, another left, this is shaping up to be one hell of a match folks!

But seriously, it's a good review. A few debatable word choices doesn't break the whole review. Perhaps he reiterates his points a few too many times, but he outlines them well. And it's far less confrontational and/or attention seeking in tone than the Wintersun review.

If you have to try to forget them they're not exactly unmemorable, are they? Sorry, still don't think you understand what "forgettable" and "unmemorable" mean.

I still think that you're looking for excuses! Seriously, it's obvious you've got no other beef with this review when you're left picking at a single word choice I've made.

I have no beef with the content just the way you expressed it. I really couldnt' care less if you liked the album and really I'm just bored anyways, I just think you need to be careful with your word choices.

But, yes! Let's try and continue debating this for another five pages as if it's actually relevant in the grand scheme of things or that it at all detracts from the fact that rasputin made his point and defended it well.

In fact, let's beat it to death because we can't really find anything else to bitch about.
