(This bit deleted as explained in my next comment)
MGMT are one of the main bands I've been meaning to get into, and this has just reminded me of that. I think I'll go and listen to a couple of their songs now...This Message Edited On 01.30.09

Apologies for the lack of comments since posting a few just after the review was put up. But it's not as if I have had the choice. Over the past 24 hours, I have either been without power OR my computer keeps switching off due to over-heating. For that latter reason, I'm going to submit a few comments in a row here because I'm usually just a few minutes away from a blue screen.

ALEX, I was also surprised at how quick mainstream radio was to get behind these guys (& won't play other groups of which there are too many to name). Then again, nothing should surprise me about radio these days.

As for Ladyhawke, I initially didn't want to listen to her for no reason whatsoever (which was foolish on my behalf). But I must admit that I like her 2 singles and definitely want to give her album a listen some time soon. I presume you are a fan of hers Alex?

Thanks Billy. If you like The Sleepy Jackson, you'll love this. And yeah, not only are their videos weird, but so are they!

Dude, if you like Van She, her self titled is the best electo-pop album of '08, hands down. Littlemore produced it.

Croc, I'm unsure if I personally like these 2 myself... But as with many other artists, we sometimes have to look past the individual & to their music. Having said that, if MGMT didn't do it for you, I doubt these guys would.

TOM, my initial draft of this review actually did differentiate between the music of the 2 duos. MGMT are more psychadelic & dated I guess, where EotS rely more on electronica. But I do still feel there are quite a few similarities. As for liking these guys & not MGMT, I do find that a little strange, but to each their own I guess.

Thanks a heap Waior.

DavID, before I break out into Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy", I will say that you have a point that I spent a little too much time comparing them to MGMT. I admit it was a device as such to let people from the northern hemisphere know what they were in for with this album (remembering it has yet to be released there). Then, when I started, all the similarities I mentioned became apparent & I just went with the flow I guess.

My opinion is not far from yours Taylor. However, if you like the title track that much, give 'We Are The People' a chance & I'll reckon you'll like that almst as much.

TIMBO, reading up on the album cover, it is apparently supposed to be a mish-mashed homage to both Star Wars & Indiana Jones.

Hi BRENT. Haven't seen you around these parts for a while. I hope all has been well.

HAPPYMeal, I have 'Half Mast' as the 5th best song on this abum behind the recommended 3 & the opener (which is rumored to be the 3rd single).

ROSS, if you really like MGMT, then you will like these guys to some extent. Like NATEY later states, it may not quite be to the same degree, but give the highlight songs a chance and they will find a spot in your mind.

Thanks for the pos Spamue1... Maybe I was made staff for a few minutes & then the powers that be thought better! LOL! Anyway, let me know what you think of both these guys & MGMT (since I have reviewed both) when you get a chance to give them a listen.

ALEX, to be totally honest with you, electro-anything usually isn't my thing. Muse is about as electro as my taste gets!. But the superb singles from MGMT & EotS have definitely proved to me that there is potential for greatness. Of course, in both cases, I've found the full-length releases to be stuffed with filler as well, so I guess it's a bit of a trade-off.

Van She definitely haven't done as much for me as they have for AtavanHalen, but I think there may be something about the female voice of Ladyhawke put together with the music that has drawn me in with her 2 singles. The videos are strangely entertaining/involving also. Either way, you have won me over & I will give her a listen shortly.

Guess what? My computer just switched off again. Getting very frustrating to say the least.

Yeah Billy, I'm over on the dark side mate. Spent most of the night in the city yesterday waiting for trains to get back running & of course they didn't. Hey ROSS, you remember that free public transport I was telling you about yesterday? Well, it cost me a $35 cab ride!

Billy's gonna from the cricket field to the beach. Wise man. Didja make a century or take 5 wickets?

Ross, yesterday it was pretty much the whole city. The better half & I were lucky to be served dinner just before the whole of downtown pretty much blacked out. But the side where I live was worse because there were no trains whatsoever and most of the major intersections we went through had no traffic lights working. Then again, with our crazy cab drivers, it sort of was like a normal drive!

Did I tell you that I'll be hopefully in your neck of the woods come May & June Ross? Well, London anyway. No chance of a heatwave there! Haha.

Ahh I see sounds like huge fun, not. Seriously 40 degree heat + no electricity + crazy cab drivers = A bad day, I'm surprised you could even be bothered to post this review lol.

Yeah I sort of knew you were going to be over here sometime, didn't know where or when though. Although London can get 'hot' I highly doubt my definition of the word comesclose to yours so you might want to pack your 'winter clothes' (that's assuming you have any).

I've heard Time To Pretend and Kids before... Not really my thing, I don't like the tone of some of the synths, but I don't dislike most of the songs either. I probably won't bother with these guys then, but I might get the 3 songs you recommended of Oracular Spectacular at some point soon.
