Had this on tape in 1992 and sung along to Rusty Cage while sat in year 8 Maths like an absolute fucking 12/13yr old chap.

Lucky you with your legitimate cassette tape releases, I too got into Soundgarden around 11-12ish but my family was too broke to afford buying a lot of music (remember having to go to an actual store and give them your money for physical media like some kind of barbarian?) so I wound up just taping shit loads of songs off the radio with blank cassette tapes, and Soundgarden was all over them. 6th grade year for me was the year of discovering grunge music.

Jesus Chist Pose is the song that sold me on Soundgarden. It's so weird, I just have to love it. Chris' vocals on that song are so amazing

Rusty Cage is the bollocks but don’t get me wrong it’s always been uncomfortable bollocks which won’t mean a thing to you brat ‘Rush’ fan nerds.

1992 was a great year to be 12 years old in. So many insane albums came out in that era. The formative years. No wonder I'm a rock God.

I’ll beg to differ on this one dude. Don’t get me wrong I fucking loved it but it didnt and never has burrowed into the bones like PJ or Nirvana.

on Jesus Christ Pose comments a few comments back, I think the reason that song takes a bit to grow on a lot of people is it's just so fucking abrasive and droning and menacing, I was intimidated by that song the first time I heard it. But as I got older and more and more into heavier and more extreme music it clicked and now it's one of my favorite tracks of theirs. Songs like that are why you can't forget Soundgarden besides being one of the best grunge bands was one of the best metal bands flat out of it's era. They get fucking heavy man. In that ominous, doomy sort of way bands like Sabbath did.

Soundgarden always claimed they were as influenced by hardcore as they were by heavy metal. JCP is proof of that.
