only reason it feels cringe is because it's not something you're used to the good little christian boy he was doing. maybe if he'd dropped a few here and there prior it'd feel more natural, but then again the christian community would've disowned him for it anyway knowing how soft they are.
also yea i know, i just decided to bump a bunch of Underoath threads cuz i've been vibing with them a lot

Regardless of why it feels cringe it still feels cringe. Doesn’t help that it’s surrounded by lyrics and songwriting that have overall taken a nosedive compared to previous albums. Glad you enjoy tho

has the writing gone down in quality? yeah. but tbh considering all their other albums with Spencer are 4.5+ it doesn't really sting having an album that's probably realistically a 3.5 by my scale but i gave it a 4, mainly for a few songs i really loved and its overall influence to my taste

Oh it stings alright
Especially when it's much closer to a 2 than a 3.5

venin some are harsh about it cuz 1.) they fuckin can be if they want 2.) the music stopped having the moments that made underoath exciting. that alone is enough to sweep the rug out of the fans’ feet.

@emim: if erase me is a 2 then their first two albums are 1's and the album i purchased alongside it in 2018 is a 1, lol
@relinquished: it just comes off like a load of hypocrisy bc people here swear all the time but have issues when others do?

yea they have issues with it if they use the curses as if they just learned about it, that’s on some secondary schoolkid level

First two Underoath albums rock and destroy Erase Me. Was it ever confirmed that erase me didn’t have any guitar riffs?

as for erase me and riffs, i heard plenty of riffs, were they complex? not particularly, but i def heard them. i quite liked the added attention to the electronic elements on the likes of sink with you, no frame, it has to start somewhere. was a different approach than the usual but i still like it, the critique of "it's not the underoath we know" does not apply to me bc i love when bands change and experiment typically. and idk maybe its jus a product of me hearing people swear like that all the time and not hearing a significant difference so take my words w a grain of salt
