I agree it is stupid to call it an "EP"

I'd definitely rather hit up the dollar menu than spend $3 on this... this.... sorry excuse for an EP.

this sounds lame
pretty good review though, ill check out the cover out of curiosity.

The seven minute original version suffered from being overly long without enough going on to justify the length.
No way!
Good review though (even though I disagree with you in a few spots ;)). This E.P. seems like a marketing move by Roadrunner.

This E.P. seems like a marketing move by Roadrunner. Roadrunner is the king of cash grabs. They're constantly re-releasing albums with one or two more songs less than a year after the initial release, and these new "Digital only" releases seem to be just another way for them to take your money. Since it's digital-only that means they don't have to spend any money on packaging or shipments and since these songs were probably recorded during the "Watershed" sessions that means it didn't even cost them anything more to record them... free money.This Message Edited On 12.12.08

I think he does ;) I figure someone will write a review disputing this one eventually it might as well be someone that can write.Bang on! Ha ha, yeah I've focused a lot of attention on the record labels and how they're going about trying to rip-off customers to make up for lost revenues, and things of that nature. It's also the topic of my 2008 music list feature... I'm kind of obsessed at the moment.

yeah this is a solid write up, there isn't much defense for this "EP". Would? was decent, but I found myself disappointed with it. For the first time since I started listening to Opeth, I just didn't like the sound of Akerfelt's voice. It wasn't that he did a bad job with it at all, just that there is no comparison to Staley's for this type of song. I agree with Doctor Nurse a bit here, I think I would have rathered they put a spin on this instead of recycling AiC's version with shittier vocals.
I wonder if in an age of music piracy, this is nothing more than a despite attempt to generate some more income...
That being said, Opeth and Akerfelt still kick remarkable amounts of ass.This Message Edited On 12.13.08

It's technically a single, not an EP (which stands for Extended Play which this technically is since you extend the playtime of your album), so no biggie there;
This, on the other hand, is basically the radio edit for Burden and two B-sides.
pretty much what a single is

Yeah, if they had released this as a "single" I wouldn't have anything to bitch about (in that regard), but they tried to sell people on the fact that this is an EP.

Opeth isn't good anymore.
