Jammed this twice, thought it was pretty decent but a little overwhelmingly focused on vocal harmonies and some of it wasn’t quite in my ‘register’, needed more grit or something idk.

Then I checked Eupnea, thought it was cool, again wasn’t 100% sold but thought the potential was there. It conjured up something though because I had a couple of their hooks stuck in me noggin’ - much to my surprise I discovered it was actually from this one, gave it a re-spin and wow did this grow fast.

Cheers Johnny for the Eupnea rec and Dewi for his salesmanship.

Yeah think I prefer this to the new one so far, I keep coming back. Refined, streamlined, interesting enough instrumentally but ultimately just catchy and fun. The focus on vocal harmonies could have theoretically been an issue, yet it no doubt benefits from this. No pretence here, or at least if there is I can’t find it.

I wouldn’t normally go for these cleans tbh, yet somehow it’s overcome my clearly defective ‘musical wiring’ and provided me with bliss regardless.

Heck!!

Yeah, the new one is great but this has so many individual gems and lovely hooks; new one goes for an epic feel and leans more on heavy riffs ig, but it doesn't have quite the same charm

The best thing I can say about this is that there isn’t moment wasted, I can’t recall ever thinking ‘why does this bit exist?’ - no excess to be found, prog goes on a diet.

Glad you dig this Demon. It's an all time favorite.

You should try Amor Vincit Omnia, although if you thought they overdid the harmonies here...
That one is more Depeche Mode and less prog, it's really good imo.

I don’t think they ‘overdid’ the harmonies, just that one’s liking of this may well be dependant on being rather partial to them, considering how dominant they are. It’s grown on me a fair bit since then.

I actually love some Depeche so that sounds great, will check 👍

Yeah I mean the comparison is a bit wild, but you'll see.

I think the excessively long remastered version played a part in me not enjoying this much. the more "condensed" original version sounds and flows much better.

Yeah i dont get why bands insist in remastering old material that is perfectly fine.

Same, my problem with the original was that it was too long anyway.
