Will never be a 5 because of part IV and certain bad choices about replacing sections with clean vocals. I don't get the hate though, Thom's vocals have improved a lot, idk i guess i've always liked them. This is missing the rawness and screaming from certain parts. Its like your ready for him to scream but then he starts singing cleanly and its a let down. I still love this though, Part 2 and 3 are awesome, and although part IV doesn't compare to the old version at all which its still enjoyable. Will be a 4.5 for me.
Also the female vocals are that chick from Schoolyard heroes, and Dave from Fear Before is in parts, most notably in part V. Andrew from the band confirmed this on the forum. This Message Edited On 11.29.08

Most of the shit they added on here is overly-long-meandering-ambient-pseudo-proggy TMV bullshit. The originals are still a lot better.

they tried to sound too much like Deloused and put a different spin on some tracks which were pretty damn good. whether they stand up to the originals is up to you. I think they damn near raped them in some parts. And not the good kinda rape where she says no but really means yes. The bad rape.

I need to listen to this again, but from what I remember it's not that much of an improvement from the original Ghostships

yea but they had to put a different spin on it otherwise it would be a pointless set of rerecordings, save for part III. the only real problems imo are the wtf production and the fact that tom still can't sing.

What is so bad about the production? They went back to the more Doppleganger-esque sound which I preferred way more then the guitar and vocal dominated Manipulator.

I have noticed that the production does sound a bit average on standard speakers. I generally always use my headphones though and it sounds a lot better.

pretty good album except for the vocals.

I recently listened to Phantom, and I've come to the conclusion that I enjoy this recording almost more so than the others.

Does anyone have any idea where I can listen to/get this?
I loved the Ghostship Demos more than anything, especially Part V.

You can currently buy this as a digital download off of MerchNow or you can go see a show and buy a physical copy. 1500 copies were made for sale over MerchNow, but now they've sold out.

I'm pretty surprised that I like this.

This is pretty good, some unnecessary parts, but overall good. Might raise the rating after a few more listens.

The production on this is godawful.
123. It kills the album.
I don't really know how long this will hold up as a 3 in my book.

This is okay, but not as great as I was expecting. The Ghostship Demos were so fucking awesome, but this gets annoying. All the "ambient" noises annoy so much, and on some bits, the singing sounds like Claudio Sanchez with his balls in a blender which is NOT good. However, some bits are comparable to the originals. If this was some other band, we would be praising them beyond all recognition, but cause it's TFOT, we're not. Funny, isn't it?
