The late 1980s saw the peak of the thrash metal genre. In 1988 thrash was at almost mainstream levels of popularity. The grunge movement didn’t have any effect on thrash until 1990-1991. Nirvana’s Nevermind, Ten from Perl Jam, and Badmoterfinger were yet to have an impact on thrash in 1988, as they came three or so years later. I disagree somewhat, but i do agree with you stating it was a time of transition, but not from Thrash to grunge, but from Thrash to Death Metal. Ok review, despite my differences in opinion. BTW 1986 was not the peak of thrash contrary to popular belief.

I completely agree with you. I stated that the late 80s to early 90s was a transition period for thrash, which doesn't contradict what you are saying at all. It peaked in the late 80s and dropped off significantly by the early 90s.
