Awesome review. I want to review the Crimsons but they are too advanced for me.

I've had reviews before where I put all that I disagreed with into one paragraph, and it's often enough that the readers look only at that paragraph, decide I'm ranting, and then bash me without reading the entire review.
Oh ok lol. i wasnt looking for that reason, i was just wondering what brought the rating down because i can hardly see how it can be less than a 4.5 (but thats just my Prog-thirsty opinion i guess!)

My largest complaints deal with the pretty bad clean vocals and, considering the album's length and the amount of riffs, the lack of these mind-blowing riffs which I find myself thinking about hours after I listen to the album. These and the fact that after I listen to the entire thing, this just doesn't strike me as anything above a 4.

I have only listened to this album in full 3 times. The first time was pretty good, the second time was boring, and the third time I felt disgusted with myselft that I listened to it again.

i didn't read the review but it's probably good because i agree with the rating!

The clean vocals fit nicely, at least for me.
I'm surprised you dont hear any mind blowing riffs, i can hear them everywhere!
But each to their own i guess. ALL THAT MATTERS IS THAT ITS A GREAT REVIEW.

Nice review. I'm going to get this and see what all the Dan Swano fuss is about ;)

The original "Wow" of this grew off me after a while...still good but i don't think it's mind-blowing anymore...still think it should have ended at the slow part around 37:00-ish...slow ending woulda made this more powerful

Awesome review
I still need to listen to this.

Hahaha thanks.
I agree that the initial surprise of this album wore off quite quickly. You'd probably like this Willie judging by your normal taste in metal, but I do not think that Dan Swano is a metal god or anything.

The way it ends is the greatest ending of any song ever.

O: IS THAT A HINT?

Album Rating: 4.0
No, as I in a already wrote a 3.5 review for that album a while back. Blackwater Park also already has a well-written 3 review so I won't be going there.

Downloaded this a few hours ago. After several listens: I agree with Crysis on many points, except the riff parts. I find many of them to be, say, 'catchy' and whatnot. 4.5

Blackwater Park is a 3.5 guys. End of story.
This on the other hand, is a 4.5

I agree, it is a 4. Nothing more, nothing less. However Alex's review highlights most of the complaints I have about that album.
As for the "catchy-ness" of the riffs here, perhaps I was spoiled by such riffs as those in "Twilight" and "Black Tears" that I find these riffs to be great, not godly.
