Love that this thread is now a 2000s nostalgiafest. I gotta jam all of this stuff.

Yo, that Invictus record was such a lost ep. If you get a download, hold to it. Last i check, soulseek didn’t have it, but we have YouTube uploads until i figure it out

They really were like a matchbook! They were good, though! Or like https://youtube.com/watch?v=ERv4XZpfWE0&feature=share9

Teenagers is a huge tune, can only imagine that somebody who doesn't like it just doesn't like fun.

Infant Annihilator.

I mean I get why people like them but I think the biggest issue I have with certain trends in deathcore these days kinda came from IA's whole schtick of playing super hyper techy bullshit and producing everything so deeply that everything just starts sounding like crap.

@Groundking: I pretty much just feel like it fucks with the structure of the album being in the position it is. Good song but feels like a bonus track or something that should have came before Cancer. It being put in between Sleep and Disenchanted is... a choice.

Well idk about that, it's been an age since I listened to that album but it's position has always seemed fine to me? Gonna have to give it a spin now.

I thought there was a loose narrative running through the album? So, i just figured the tracklist correlated with that

Yeh I thought it was narrative album too

Infant Annihilator made deathcore interesting, tech death metal plus deathcore over standard deathcore. It is true every deathcore band these days copy IA, and now the genre is all the better for it.

It's just weird when taking the concept of TBP in account. Cancer, Mama, Sleep...Teenagers...Disenchanted, Famous Last Words. It's like right in the middle of an all timer stretch and feels so unlike what's before and after that it kinda disrupts the flow.

@Tundra: for me, deathcore would be in a better position if it took more cues from like Opeth (Whitechapel got the point with their last two) or went all in on the melodic aspects rather than being tech for the sake of tech.

Tundra’s post, but in reverse. Deathcore was at its peak when it was brutish, sloppy, and gritty and lashed out at all around it, back in the aughts. Now, it’s all streamlined and glossy and extra formulated with growth hormones. It lost all impact
