Good News: The Faceless rid of breakdowns and no longer sound like a self-parody, there's more diversity to be heard between the tracks, the vocals will smite your ears, and the band has dropped much of the nonsensical Nintendo-influenced "look what I can do" bullshit so prevelant on their debut.

Bad News: More Cynic-esque robovocals and less of the multi-layered chaos that made them stand out in a sea of tech-death clones.

All in all, it's a worthy album and a must-have for all fans of shreddy death metal.

i think this is better. flat out better, really. Akeldama was boring except for An Autopsy and Leica.

Yeah it was fun when I saw them a few weeks ago and all, but it just can't match up with Pestilence, the title track, Ghost of a Stranger, etc

ancient covenant is still my favorite off the album. also, is it just me or is the alternate picking on prison born ridiculously fast?

i've given it more than a week to digest. it's definitely better than akeldama. it has a more focused sound. the style is unique, genuine, and tasteful.

keene's leads are sort of similar though, with a few exceptions. many times during this album, i'll hear a run or phrase that'll remind me if pestilence or an autopsy. i wish he had more technical skill, but it's enjoyable enough i suppose.

Great album imo. Easily one of the best releases this year. It really does get better with every

listen. At first i would have given it a 3,5-4 rating.

The album as a whole did not hit me as hard as 'Akeldama' did though. This Message Edited On 11.17.08

I actually prefer Akeldama over this release. However, still very good album. Sons of Belial and XenoChrist are some of the best Deah Metal songs I have heard in awhile.
