lol yeah i think Parcello is missing the point. Just because a review says "this album sucks" doesn't mean that automatically, you know that that album sucks, but instead, it serves as a good reminder NOT to buy that album. Then, in the future, if you happen to hear that album down the road from a friend or whatnot and you really like what you hear, then go buy it!

i also think it is natural instinct to enjoy hearing other people's opinions. i mean you get that when you: watch the news, read the paper, browse on pretty much any website, watch a commercial, read a magazine, etc.

reviews are pointless but they really AREN'T.It's called trust man. Do you play instruments? Do you read magazines that tell you what brand or model is good and what isn't? You TRUST their advice because you don't want to go out and buy a 1,500$ guitar that sucks.

yeah your right forever. but I'm talking about the people who write a review that states, worst band ever don't listen to it. those are the reviews I'm talking about. but it just so happens that a lot of reviews I've been reading are completely pointless like those, on this type of website. Trust? Yeah thats pretty hard to come by in this day in age. I didn't want to come off as the bad guy here and talk like I know everything, I don't know everything but one thing I do know, is that when it comes to liking something or not, whether its a band, album, musical instrument( I play guitar), or anything like that, I think I do a pretty good job by just simply doing my own research and then making a decision. to me, its that simple. I don't know, maybe I do sound like a tard , but then again who is anybody to say I'm wrong, I'm not saying what your saying is wrong, its just that this whole like or dislike thing is very simple to me. thats all.

oh yeah one more thing. it is enjoyable to hear peoples opinions for sure, but when its a one way street and the people are just negative and rude, thats when opinions are pointless to me, thats not logical. that is all. you will never hear from me again. lol.

One more thing, lol, bottom line is, what I'm trying to say is, you yourself at the end of the day, whatever you like or whatever you don't like.... Thats all there is! You give out criticism, you can take criticism, you can give an opinion and take an opinion, but it doesn't change anything about yourself. Because thats what makes you who you are. I'm reading into this way to deep now but thats what I'm trying to say . Man.... This would be a way better conversation in person, its so hard to get the right words when typing on a stupid computer. But yeah... No opinion or review changes who you are at the end of the day, you like what you like, dislike what you dislike. Suggestions, opinions, criticism is all fine and dandy but from what I've been reading its just a bunch of mumbo jumbo. I'm not saying any of these people are stupid or anything, but whats the point of writing nonsense, it just doesn't make sense to me. alright thats me signing off!

My metal album of 08. I don't usually like death metal in a vocal sense but the vocals for Gojira are pretty unique and do not sound too cookie monsterish. Lyrical content is awesome as well

I understand that music is subjective. but if people say don't listen to this band, they suck, that doesn't solve anything, wheres the logic in that. who is anybody to say something like that, I've seen it so many times recently, that doesn't make sense.
The point is to give your opinion of the album sure. But you do this by taking different elements of the music on the album and expressing both the merits and the downsides of the music. This way you should give a pretty balanced view of the album whilst still expressing your own opinion on the music.

I think 'Gojira' doesn't get the respect it deserves simply because of it's French nationality. 'The Way of All Flesh' in an excellent album and is on par with 'Blood Mountain' by 'Mastodon'. Also, this album isn't made for people with ADD; If challenging music isn't your cup of tea, go listen to POD and if it's melody you're after, give 'Fleet Foxes' a spin. 'Gojira' doesn't write POP music.
