I think I kind of reflexively bought it without really hearing anything from it so I was very surprised and kinda like, 'what is this and why is it happening?' with Renacer. It took about a year for me to come around to it, if I recall
Snakebite is my current fave

Sorry dudes Renacer kinda grew off me over the years. I still really like it but I find the melodic, faster sound that the band had on previous records to be much more memorable and interesting. I find Holy Mountain and Ancient Tombs to be way better than the rest of the album and frankly Dan Trapp sounds fairly bored and restrained on the album; I don't think he was really into the changeup and the fact that almost every song is mid-tempo doesn't really play to his strengths.
I also think Thorns is a much better album since it has more variety and better lyrics IMO.

Renacer grew off me pretty hard as well. I loved it when it came out but just doesn't feel like Senses Fail

I was talking to a friend about how much he didn't really like SF and their more pop-ish takes (like Calling All Cars and whatnot) and Buddy is a terrible vocalist, etc. so I sent him a link of Snakebite and he was like, 'I was not expecting that from them, well played'
I didn't care for Thorns too much

I don't really understand people who say Buddy is a terrible vocalist, I mean yes he has had points in his career where his cleans were very bad live, but really he has quite a unique voice and I don't care what anyone says Still Searching is an absolute landmark performance for punk music. His voice sounds absolutely stunning on that record.

I get it. Heck, I used to be one of them
His voice has grown on my over the years, and he has sounded very different throughout their discog, too, whether that is his doing, a bit of studio magic, or some of both. I have never really experienced them live so I can't speak for that

I've loved him live both times I've seen them. Sounded identical to his performance on If There Is Light.

I remember 7 years ago, a friend of mine went to their gig and posted an unflattering review of their performance on a now-defunct music website. Buddy then shared it on facebook, urging people to harass the reviewer, because apparently, she didn't know what she was talking about.

He is a cunt and definitely the weakest link in this band imo. And he's failed to replicate the same quality of performance he had on the first two sf albums.

Yeah that's what I've been saying, DB Cooper, t/t, Past is Proof, Coming Up Short...if you throw those on here I mean how is this not a contender for best SF?

still wouldnt be for me (fire all the way for me) but it goes up the ranking w those changes for sure. cant really find a good enough copy of coming up short to put it here, and i dont think db cooper is that much better than the stuff id drop from this, but t/t and past is proof are def better than the middle stretch where like every song is in the same key
