BadTaste, as CaptainNorth said, 'I Write Sins' is the most immediate track on here and I think that also has something to do with the storyline drawing the listener in. The 2 tracks either side of the intermission were probably the most successful of the other singles. It probably helped that they had videos that stood out.
CaptainNorth, I barrack for the kangas, so... "Grrr... & Go Storm"
Dave, your strike rate is currently better than mine over the past week or so. I seriously have no idea why you like 'Nails for Breakfast...' so much, but to each their own I suppose. I won't hold it against you... for now.

I think it's fantastically catchy, well-constructed and clever.
I seriously have no idea how you could not like it and yet liked Craig David enough to review his entire discography.

Ouch! Ref, that Craig David remark was a low-blow.
I need to think of a clever comeback... Well, at least I didn't listen to the entire Metro Station album!!! Come to think of it, I have never got past the 2 minute mark of 'Shake It'!

That was fun to review. Plus I got to dance to Shake It (which I KNOW you have done, don't lie to me!)

album is horrible on so many levels

Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk is where they got most of the quotes and references from...amazing book...

Atavan, please don't put those mental pictures in my mind!
Haha... At the end of the review of this Panic Album, I stated that most will have to choose a side between love & hate; I think McP3000 & ScottayBoy have done that judging by their one-line comments.
Hey, maybe the song titles & lyrics don't get through to me as much since I haven't had the (dis)pleasure of reading a book for about 2 years now!
|
| |
that would be displeasure. i find equal enjoyment in a good book as a good album. Especially if it's Chuck Palahniuk one of the best modern authors

this album rules

i dont understand most of the praise palahniuk gets tbh, he's a good writer and has maybe 2 gems out there (fight club, survivor, and maybe the first piece in haunted) but is definitely not to be remembered for anything beyond those

Fight Club, Survivor, and Rant are absolutely amazing books...

Oh, don't get me wrong Brent, I probably get equal enjoyment out of a book as compared to an album as well... It's the time required to read most books that puts me off.
I've seen the 'Fight Club' movie though!

Yeah Palahniuk's books are fairly short for the most part...the movie is ridiculously awesome but the book is even better!
I'm gonna go put this album on the whole way through just for old times sake!

Hmmm, I like the idea of short books.
Brent, it will be interesting to see if you listen to the album differently now that you have Palahniuk's books in your mind (like what Atavan said).

Well I actually caught all the references the first time through the album but I do think I would like it a bit less if I didn't get the references and such...

So yeah, two months later and I'm giving this a listen.
It isn't doing much at all for me. Tunes are bland in my ears. ffs, get to "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" already.

I reckon you are like me BadTaste... You jot stuff down on a list to listen to later and then anywhere between 2-6 months later, you actually do.
I am presuming the synths & electronic music did absolutely nothing for you... And that the latter half of the album was preferred at least a little better.....
|
| |
album isn't great but is much better than their most recent record which was just awful
