The Serpent’s Manifolds, the newest offering by Greek Avant-Garde black metal band Transcending Bizarre?

since there are many times when the drums are used more toward interesting atmospheric touches (the intro to “Cell” is an excellent example of this).

This is something for people who are sick and tired of hearing the same old thing, tired of being disappointed by half-assed attempts at sounding “deep” and interesting.

^^^Sold my good metal friend! Excellent review and I will be looking into this soon enough!

YEAH! I'm in the same boat as you unfortunately. For every great album I come across, I have to sift through twenty pieces of shit that will just collect dust on my cd shelf. Have you checked out the new Burst album?

Yep, still can't get into black metal. These guys are very talented, though.

Only heard a couple of myspace tracks from this so far, but your points about these guys having a very unified sound (where all the instruments feel/sound important and meaningful) is right on. Can't wait to get on thisThis Message Edited On 09.21.08

I'm sort of off metal recently so I probably won't check this out, not for now at least.

In the main, same.

Damn, what the hell do you call this? Symphonic, melodic, progressive death black thrash metal?

So good. I love how the harmonics blend with the break-neck riffage.

I have a soft spot for beautiful music. Get an already incredible album and add violins and a piano to the mix?

It's the special thing about this type of music that I can't get enough of: While my music taste is wide as Hell, one sits very special in my heart. Dark, heavy, degrading, yet...beautiful. Both in sound and craftsmanship.

I'm floored.

Got to find a way to get the 2004 Insomnium disk...

This has 4 written all over it. Good stuff, I personally think it beats the new Mirrorthrone.

Recently checked out this and Oceans of Sadness and am really loving both of them. Very interesting bands.

I think the keys make the album.

I think if I were more into black metal I would extremely love this, but as it stands, this just doesn't have the emotional impact I look for in truly awesome metal. Still excellent at worst.
