ITT compare Hendrix to Underoath
Hendrix is one wild, sexy, talented dude.
Underoath are six Christian, semi-sexy, not-even-nearly-as-talented dudes.

Talented in drastically different ways/play two different music styles
This makes me a sad panda

Just because they're different styles, doesn't mean they can't be compared.
Flea, for example, is a better bassist than, say, the late Sid Vicious.

Comparing Hendrix to a band like Underoath. I don't even need to offer opinion it speaks for itself.

What is this 'talent' you all are trying to imagine they have based on their songs? And why do you even care how talented they are? So you can worship them?
All you can really talk about is their songs and how much you enjoy them/their effect on you.

well that's not all you can talk about but i see your point. and the talent Underoath have is songwriting.

I just came across this review and its honestly one of the most "fanboyish-biased" review I've read. Its sounds like youre just pissed that Underoath are no longer the same whiney screamo-core band they were a few years ago. I, personally thought that Define the Great Line was an incredible step forward for the band. DTGL and LITSOS still have some of those same aspects, but they are blended much better with the heavier sound. Im not a huge fan of the genre in general, but I think that Underoaths new take in the last couple of years is actually really well done and quite enjoyable.

Yeah but different perspectives mean people won't agree on what bands are talented songwriters. I agree with you though.

Oops, re-reading the review I realised my first comment was pretty wrong. The review isn't badly written, but I can't really make any sense of it. The idea that his screams being 'all over the place' makes them bad basically says that you don't like Post-Hardcore/Hardcore. And they're not, anyway. This Message Edited On 11.08.08
