I hateeeeeeeeeee hate hate hate this. :/
I actually got this like a month and a half before it came out and as soon as it finished I called my friend Kody and said "Dude, I have bad news" "what is it?" "The new ASP records sucks fat cock" after that I'm pretty sure he made some weeping sounds but that's irrelevant. I'm seeing some people like glass sanctuary but for some reason I can't even finish a single song on this before putting something else on. And some friends of mine went to a show in Seattle with asp, Job For a Cowboy, Annotations of an Autopsy, Hate Eternal, and Animosity. My friend Brandon said ASP was pretty boring I'm sure, but apparently animosity sucks live and annotations is really good according to them.

The really crazy guitar parts in "From So Far Away" is actually Rusty Cooley, which is why it sounds impossibly fast, while the lame sweeping in between those solos are actually done by Chris Storey. This Message Edited On 11.21.08

Way to overexagerate and be a drama queen:thumb:This Message Edited On 11.21.08

Well Rusty Cooley is a pretty tasteless wanker of a guitarist.

chris storey is seriously really good though.

They are a talented band, The good thing about this album is that they showed that they wanted to progress and mature their sound, unfourtantely, TPOE was a hard album to follow.

kind of took the bury your dead route i see...but i thouroughly enjoy it
|
| |
good album
i like Black Gold Reign, Never Again, and Stabbing to Purge Dissimulation the most.
Awesome playing on this record, much improved over the last record. Not enough death vocals though. This record would have blown TPOE out of the water if he hadn't changed his vocal style.

comment up there ^
If you mean the rhythm of the songs...maybe you could compare them to bury your dead... with the heavy core influenced feeling, but theyve been doing that all along in their career..maybe just more noticed on this album.
either way, awesome stuff

my only problem with this cd is the clean vocals and the overuse of overlaying vocal tracks. high vocals on top of lows are cool but i feel like its too much. other than that. i personally like the shredding i feel like chris stoyer actually learned some theory behind his music and that he is using it in ways you dont usually hear any guitarist ever. from so far away proves his talent, not in the shred portion but like 1:12 - 1:20 like those areas with the weird notes. i dont think this cd deserves a 3.4, its one of my favorite albums of the year

Price of Existence PWNED this one. I was sorely disappointed. It just sounded like masturbatory technicality, (I'm being hypocritical because I love Beneath the Massacre), and didn't impress me at all.

Its a good album, but Awaken the Dreamers lacks the ASP brutality. The guitar wankery is cool, but it doesn't hook me as well as the last album did.

not even close TPOE was pretty amazing. Awaken the Dreamers sounds like one super long breakdown with guitar solos jizzed on top of it randomly.

I love this album, but it did take a while to grow on me. Its doesn't grab you instantly, like TPoE did.
BTW check out the lyrics to Songs for the Damned. They are pretty interesting. See if you can figure them out.

Its difficult to list every band they mention in the lyrics for Songs for the Damned, but I'm pretty damned sure I see a Panic! at the Disco reference in there.
"It's all pretty odd but more our darkest days
'Cause we let it burn and felt strength just the same"
Ignite AAAND Panic! at the Disco.

don't see reason for all the hate...this album is a very nice change (thank God no tPoE pt 2, it would be impossible)...not as good but it's a step in the right direction...put the vocals more in the forefront, cut out some of the excessive shred and keep the experimental elements and the next album could be killer...Black Gold Reign ftw...

Eh, pretty technical but the strong structure really hinders the music. Vocals-- haven't made a decision yet.
