I feel ya. Those are both 4/5's for me - phenomenal records that both suffer just a touch from exhaustion. And I get that that's sort of "the point" with SOUNDTRACKS especially, but I could easily cut like five or six tracks and don't think the album would suffer much if at all.
This, on the other hand, is straight to the point, in your face, brutal but still somehow strangely inviting...idk, there's nothing else quite like it. Not even the subsequent COP, which is somehow even more oppressive and grueling, but also less..."universal"? I can listen to FILTH just about anytime I want. Can't say the same about COP lol.
TO BE KIND is my only other Swans 5; imo it kinda does the trance-y/drone-y stuff a little better than some of their previous efforts, while retaining a bit of that energy and angst from their early stuff.

not checked To Be Kind yet, think I've given up on this band for the time being
Soundtracks did have some interesting stuff on it for sure, lockdown gave me the opportunity to hear some things in full that I would've never gotten the chance to otherwise. The results weren't spectacular, but I still feel like it was a worthwhile exercise
