Haha I guess maybe it just feels that way — most of their headlining shows even as of this past year are fairly small in comparison with their contemporaries. Regardless, stoked you’re enjoying the dive!

The opening trio is probably the best start to any of their albums

I'm gonna disocg jam these guys, only heard 'Untitled' and I dig, especially a handful of tracks. Instead of starting here, I'll save this one and go chronologically (if possible... haven't checked if they're all easy to access).
Any advice?

'Yeah, Untitled is a powerhouse album that leaves an incredible first impression but doesn't grow all that much past it' (2)
mY experience as well.

Avoid AB, it's really amateurish by their standards.Ten Stories and It's All Crazy! aren't as strong as their best albums but still contain some of their best material, so def don't miss those. Save this and Catch For Us for last - they're their best albums as well as Untitled. Pale Horses is probably fourth best. Honestly their whole catalogue is incredible, definitely one of the most consistent bands out there.

"Yeah, Untitled is a powerhouse album that leaves an incredible first impression but doesn't grow all that much past it" [3]
this surprisingly was my experience as well. it's great but I rarely feel like coming back to it

I think it's superb but unlikely to have the same staying power as this or Catch For Us. Julia is one of their best songs, must have played it 50 times and it still shows no signs of ageing

yeah agreed on that. the opener on that album is hot too

Matador, dormouse & New Wine were my faves, I do like Julia though.
Just checked and this one happens to be absent from Spotify, will have to go digging but should listen to the previous album first regardless.

Pale Horses is the biggest grower in their discog imo — it’s powerful and super impactful, but at least for me it just deepened over time. B,S, Ten Stories and Catch for Us are at the top

My opinion still hasn't really wavered from this:

Yeah switch 6 and 7 and our ranking is more or less the same

sowing, our tastes usually line up pretty well but that order is bad and wrong

Putting Ten Stories/Pale Horses at the top is bad and wrong.

With the exception of #1 I thought you agreed with his list, Chan. How would you rank them?
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
Chan I'm guessing you're a AB Life guy
also I read your review for It's All Crazy but I just can't get behind that album (aside from a few tracks) no matter how hard I try
the biggest argument I could see is that Brother, Sister should be #1 and I wouldn't refute it

Lmao "raw intensity that ab cant match" nah its literally the polar opposite smh

It's all crazy is freaking garbageeeee

really i just disagree with pale horses and it's all crazy being as low as they are. otherwise i'd have them in essentially the same order, i guess.
