I would say good pick but every song is a good pick 👌👌👌

Of all time, it's gottaaaaa be "The Grouch". That song is totally me to a fucking tee, haha.

Haha nice. Nimrod is my other gd 5. Such a great album.
Tbh I do have a TON of nostalgia with 1039 but even before I did - when I first bought it/listened to it - I thought it was their best just based off of the melodies and guitars and stuff. That was almost 4 years ago jeez

Dude, such great albums. Like, I can still never wrap my head around the "2nd wave" of Green Day, I really wanna know just what in the hell was going on in Billie Joe's head. For real, there are people out there that think American Idiot is their DEBUT.

I WAS A YOUNG BOY THAT HAD BIG PLANS,
NOW I'M JUST ANOTHER SHITTY OLD MAN.
I DON'T HAVE FUN AND I HATE EVERYTHING,
THE WORLD OWES ME,

I always found it strange the Billie that made 1039 made even anything after dookie or even Kerplunk

"I always found it strange the Billie that made 1039 made even anything after dookie or even Kerplunk"
I'm convinced he's dead and was replaced by a clone, just like Avril Lavigne and Gucci Mane.

this still holds up pre well but the second half (except for like she and come around) is so bland compared to the first

unpopular opinion: having a blast is the best song here (after longview of course)
|

Having a Blast is one of the best if not the best
Second half is just as strong as the first

blast is bae. kinda noticed that this album kinda has this storyline that goes through it, tho maybe its just me who notices:
1. guy is burnt from his job/schooling/responsiblities etc
2. guy becomes angry with everything and fantasizes violence
3. turns out the guy is just mad at the people surrounding him (coworkers/family/etc)
4. guy becomes lazy and apathetic at home, parents get on his ass
5. guy leaves home to live in the ghetto (possibly to live at a community squat or smthn)
6. guy meets girl at new home, but shes abusive towards him
7. guy becomes miserable
8. guy breaks off with the girl
9. he reconsiders? (cant really think much else with this track)
10. guy hooks back up with girl, but this obviously wont end well
11. guy learns he's bisexual (maybe cuz he be sleeping around)
12. guy bumps into old friend from past (maybe another roommate from the squat?)
13. guy ends his relationship with girl (or otherway around since the person being dumped is refered to as "he")
14. guy says fuck it and disassociated himself with everyone else, probably just going end up back at the beginning with track 1
prob. overanalysing this but i kinda like to think that the guy represents the band, and the girl/squat represents the underground Cali scene. Doubt it but it's a cool thought.
