This is the first Clutch album I heard, and this will always be Clutch to me. The sound of this album is quite original. It has better riffs and lyrics than their other albums and it is mixed and mastered well.

Blast Tyrant and this album are their best albums, but Blast Tyrant is not mastered well at all and sounds like crap when you turn it up. Blast Tyrant has loud ass guitars and distortion - not to mention it's not as original as this album and falls more into hard rock territory.

Excellent album, which has a lot of musical variety too. There are the more psychedelic likes of 'Spacegrass', the straightforward Rock style of 'Rock 'n' roll outlaw' and 'Texan book of the dead', and the laidback nature of opener 'Big news I' and '7 jam'. What really stands out to me here though is the different guitar styles that play their part and Fallon's sometimes strange, other times strong, macho vocal techniques which really power most of the songs through to a considerably good finish. One of the band's best albums for sure.

yeah very underrated in their discog. amazing to see their transition through the years. this bares elements of their blues/stoner/groove stuff, but also has a very early 90s alt/metal vibe almost in the vein of Faith No More, Primus, etc.

anyone else get what i'm talking about?
