It's not really even Blaze's fault that his era of Maiden was bad, same case with The Ripper era of Priest. Both bands were just writing mediocre to bad songs.

That is also true, songwriting didn't help that much. But I couldn't stand Blaze singing the classics either.

not so sure about that rom.....some of the instrumentation of those 2 Blaze albums contain the signature maiden sound, outside of the vocals.....there is some good stuff in there

Yeah, the signature sound was still there for a lot of it agreed. But still, the songs felt stale and VERY repetitive

This is better than any Blaze-era Maiden, can't stand the dudes voice just sounds so off pitch with Maiden instrumentals.

Technically he's a good singer not knocking the dude, but doesn't go with Maiden at all.

first two songs in X Factor are better than anything on here

Actually, Sign of the Cross is one of Maiden's best

I've always believed that those albums were a failure mostly because Maiden's songwriting was plain bad at the time, not just because of the vocals.

i remember listening to those a bit back in the 90's.....repetitive thought was that they would've been so much better with Bruce.....i think the songwriting is pretty ok, for the most part anyway

although not having adrian is an absolute crusher

don't know, I think instrumentally speaking they just sound so uninspired (besides Sign of the Cross and Lord of the Flies). The riffs and the solos are meh and even the basslines are nothing truly special

U guys should really check Silicon Messiah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgu64WOtXfA
