Good review. I pretty much agree whole heartedly...and found the example you provided of how laughable the lyrics are great.

I was hoping this album would be good (as if we ever hope albums will be bad)...but I guess their lead guitarist had the right idea when he jumped ship.

To be honest, the end of A Violent Strike is so powerful. It gives me chills.

Who do they think they are now? Protest The Hero?

I enjoyed Nocturne, and I was extremely pumped when Midheaven was announced.
However, upon listening, my manhood shriveled. It hurt, needless to say.
I saw them live about three weeks ago.
Someone stole the lead singers cellphone and he pitched a hissy.
The moment he said "Now we're gonna play something off our new album!", I pulled a Darth Vader by screaming a long and dramatic "NOOOO!"
He was not amused.

So one more question and then I’ll let you go. What happened with Toby Wright in the studio?

Oh man. I love getting this question. There are certain things that I’ve been told not to say, so I’m just going to try and say it the nicest way possible. The factors that went into Toby Wright not working out is that Toby Wright is a producer that is used to getting paid a whole lot of money to do what he does. We paid him, I believe, $17,000, and I don’t think that was even close to what he was used to being paid. So I think that started us off on the wrong foot in his book and the way he does things. I don’t really have a whole lot to say about Toby other than the fact that when we got done with everything, the mixes didn’t sound like we wanted them to, so we had to go with somebody else. We ended up pulling extra money out of our pockets to do that.

This band could have done so much more with "Midheaven". I'm not saying I hate the album, nor am I saying I love it. It's just very blah. Ells has rambled on in interviews about making a long, drawn out story to go along with the album, (as if its concept didn't fail enough). The only people who would care enough to read about The Human Abstract's fictional stories are the 14 year-old chicks that Nathan's fucking. I wonder how he gets away with that?

The Human Abstract say taking LSD and other hallucinogenic drugs help them write music. Although whatever they write may seem good in la la land, it's definitely a bad excuse for music in the real world. I know they're already thinking about the 3rd album and I believe they have potential to write a decent record, but they are too busy worrying about success, drugs, underage chicks, and booze to do so.

I remember I thought "well, this is good actually" the first time I listened to it. Now I find it painful to go through.

I'm not gonna lie, Breathing Life Into Devices is a guilty pleasure of mine

just got the cd yesterday from a friend, omg it sucks

you got the lyrical quote wrong btw, just thought I would point that out. If your going to use lyrics from a song you might as well get it right.

All those around you crawl to a quiet, your eyes start to cross the room but it's just an illusion, the room doesn't exist, it's only you and I. And it's almost like you cant fail at all, but maybe you've failed already. What you choose to see is real: a cold dark road of enemies and obstacles you can never overcome or a bright future ahead.

With the proper phrasing, it makes 100x more sense, yet still fails to make sense.

If i didnt get the message through though, god this album sucks,....... sooooo bad.

Considering I was reviewing the album before its release, and thus before lyrics were available, I think you should connect the dots as to why I had to guess. And I wasn't far off anyways, and, like you said, it still makes absolutely zero sense.

You're probably an overweight, pale, hairy, smelly dude that gets aroused by writing reviews of bad albums and believing you're a scholar.
