> These were touted as a modern day Clash
Yeah that's ridiculous for sure, but their fire and bite feels real to me on this one. The passion bleeding out of this is what hooked me first

Yeah I meant production wise between the two. This is a lot more crisp and clean in comparison, and therefore dulled, unfortunately. Good songs though.

I still remember the global conference where they all gathered to unanimously declare TGA the 2008 recipients of the coveted "modern day Clash" title. What a moment.

Yes they did.
These were knocking about around the same time as The Hold Steady. Fuck knows where I read it but I distinctly recall an article where the Hold Steady were seen as old Rock revivalists breathing new life into the scene and these were looked upon as having a gusto and Clash like presence with the tunes to match.

Lol one guy made a comparison you don’t like in an article from probably a decade ago and you’ve been holding onto it ever since, that’s hilarious. If only he knew the long lasting impact his words would have

It wasn’t just some little tag line on some music forum.
You are clearly too young or too shit to remember the sway the music press had back in the day. Granted come the late 2000s it had nowhere near as much clout as the 90s and what came before but in terms of where you went for new music there was still stuff to be said for the printed word.
