i honestly think we have a pretty big misunderstanding as to what brutal death metal actually sounds like. jam some disgorge and deeds of flesh and explain to me how this is really any different.
I think disgorge is not only heavier, but also filthier than this, has pukey unintelligible vocals etc, most brutal dm bands I know also dabble in inhaled vocals and other bree bree fuckery. But if some people actually accept that cannibal corpse are BDM adjacent then I'm not really complaining

The one tone, super deep gutterals of bands like deeds of flesh or defeated sanity combined with the nonstop brutality is what separates it for me, which is why I can't really listen to some of those bands for too long
Bands like Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse have build up to some of their more heavy parts and a bit more variation imo, its more accessible at least to my ears but its hard to explain
