This and Phaedra and Stratosfear are all great starting points.

I knew you'd be the guy to ask. I bought Electroma a few years back without doing any research, blew my mind.

Electroma by Daft Punk? Tis cool, but haven't watched it in years. Will need to get myself another copy of it I guess.
And if you dig M83, or Kashiwa Daisuke you should definitely find something to appreciate with Tangerine Dream.

^ This. Also telebyrd, this early 70s era of TD is them at their best, but they did change quite a bit in later years. Some of their stuff went a bit new-agey, which I can pretty much take or leave, but Seven Letters From Tibet was pretty cool.

^ This. TD from 90s-00s is substantially different to TD of 70s and early 80s.
If you want to check out 90s/00s stuff, check out Seven Letters From Tibet as Kaleid said, or Madcap's Flaming Duty or something from the Five Atomic Seasons series.

On a side note: I keep thinking Madcap's Flaming Duty is growing on me every time I revisit it, but then I look back and realise I digged it all along.

Yeah, it's pretty great. I only checked it out because of your review; I'd initially thought it'd be bad (late 00s, vocals) but it was cool.

I heard the synth at 2:30 and insta-fived. This is clearly a cornerstone of the electronica genre.

This reminds me of Vangelis' Blade Runner OST in an excellent way.
