I love the NIN 'ballads', they're almost on par with the slowed down Converge songs.
Not So Pretty Now is the best NIN song of the stuff I've heard from them so far

possibly the most deceiving of all the NIN opuses, The Slip sneaks up on you when you least expect it. True Echoplex is obviously derivitive of what he was doing on With Teeth and Year Zero, but Head Down and Letting You more than make up for that faux pas
Highlights: Letting You, Head Down, 1,000,000, Lights In The Sky, Discipline

Half the songs on this album start off with drum beats that repeat throughout the song. Now usually, I wouldn't mind that, but they honestly all sound the same.
The second half of the album however, make me love this album more than the past two Nine Inch Nails releases (Ghosts I-IV and Year Zero). Lights In The Sky, leading into Corona Radiata, is a perfect example of Trent's musical genius. What started off as a boring album, leads up to these two masterpieces.
Hell, even 1,000,000 wasn't too bad.
I think this album takes some time getting used to. Nine Inch Nails has changed over the years, but I'm not worried about them one bit.

I enjoy this album but Trent could do it so much better.

I think this is the album that With Teeth should have been.

What I meant by that is that I think Trent intended With Teeth to be a lot like what this is: just a really kick ass assemble of really good indistrial rock songs. No huge ambition behind it, just a standard collection of some damn good fun songs.

We do. I've never actually looked at this album as a coherent whole, but now that I think about it, I see that perspective. I still need to get some real top of the line audio equipment so I can hear this thing in .WAV format.

Yeah, Corona Radiata just transitions into The Four of Us Are Dying perfectly. They just go so well together, this huge ominous build up to this other creepy little instrumental track. I personally think both songs are better than anything off of Ghosts.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Ghosts at all. Your mind is just bound to drift away with so
little barely keeping your attention. 4 discs of that in one sitting? Forget it.

Eh, there's some cool little stuff on it, not enough though out of the whole four
discs. If I want great instrumental work from Trent, I'll take The Social Network and
TGWTDT OST's over Ghosts any day.

I revisited this record, and I actually think that it's kind of underrated, in my humble opinion.
