exactly, im sure every deathcore band is running out of ideas if they havnt already and this doesnt bring anything really new into the mix but it is a solid album with some solid growth from their last release and i respect that

I highly doubt bands are running out of ideas, they are more likely too lazy or scared to try something new.

or they just don't have the talent to write new, interesting songs. after all, you can be an amazing musician, but if you can't write a good song, your music is gonna suck

I think "this is Exile" is definitely an improvement over "The Somatic Defilement". I was presently surprised. I wasn't expecting it to be bad, but it's nice when an impulse iTunes purchase goes over well. :-P

the 3rd guitar helps live, so you can hear the harmony and the rythem. but thats about it.

only gripe i have with them is that most of the lyrics blow. the first album is mostly stereotypical metal lyrics about killing women, and the second covers more diverse topics, but still not well.

the lyrics have suffered yes, there were some perks to the whole jack the ripper theme on the first album

Good review but I have never liked Whitechapel. I even think that "Genesis" by Job For A Cowboy is better than this album. They don't sound much different from any other Deathcore band except for the fact that the pig squeals are gone. I also don't like the three guitar assault. It's not done as masterfully as Maylene & The Sons Of Disaster or Iron Maiden.

Listen to their second record "II". They play well off of one another instead of every guitarist sticking to the rhythm section. All three guitars have their respective parts. This Message Edited On 07.28.08
