Because it's boring and repetative. And don't give me that bullshit that that's what black metal's about either.

Judging by what you listen to you wouldn't know black metal if it walked right up to you and kicked you in the nuts.

Yeah, because Darkthrone, Dissection, Burzum, and Emperor and as far from black metal as you can get.

Also, whether I worship black metal or not has nothing to do with this album being decent at best. This is repetative in a bad way, so it gets a 3, as I can bare to sit through most of it, now.

It blows my mind how people cannot like this album when they like all the other bands related to them but that's fair enough.

Personally, I think this is a great album; it may not be the greatest black metal album ever, but it defined the genre and still sounds amazing after 13 years (especially "Funeral Fog").

attila isn't spectacular on vocals, and there's a lot of things about this album I can see why kiltacular gave it a three, it's a bit overrated. This Message Edited On 04.23.07

The thing with me and black metal is that I do not care for a lot of the norwegian 'true' black metal liek Mayhem and Immortal. I like two Mayhem albums and cant stand Immortal. When I listen to black metal, I want it to have a certain edge to it (see later review I plan to post today )

I don't agree with this review. I think every song sounds completly different, seeing as almost no riff is used twice. Life Eternal is amazing, Freezing Moon is classic, From The Dark Past is haunting, Funeral Fog is dissident, Pagan Fears is heavy, etc. Classic album within and outside of the genre. This Message Edited On 07.31.07
