This is awesome, but imo Purple Rain is better. Some songs are a bit too long imo.

I've got this behind Purple Rain, Parade and maybe 1999

@FDH: Sweet. I don't think you've posted in several months at least.

^ What a song... it used to be my favourite from this album. But seriously, the whole album (double) is amazing. I love Prince's use of the drum machine as well - it's slightly out of tune. Incredible.

that's probably my pick from this. great lyrics. it's this awesome, odd song that I can't imagine anybody else coming up with.
yeah this is right up there. The Cross is great too.

Yeah, there are so many great songs on this album. 'I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man' is a straight-up jam and 'Adore' might be one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
I feel that comparing this album to Purple Rain is unfair. That one is more immediate, this is definitely a grower (and a double-album too). Prince is that sexy m.f. for sure.

prince's albums are great, but the cover arts are all lolbad except for that Batman one

Lol, I've already had this exact discussion with someone. He does have pretty dodgy cover art, that is true. I like Purple Rain's cover tho - that is iconic. Dirty Mind and his self-titled are just crazy. That stare..., Controversy too.

Keeping the prince train rolling, I picked this album up. Haven't listened yet but am very excited. Got high expectations after purple rain and 1999

Damn it's good. Starfish and coffee, if I was your girlfriend, title track, and I could never take the place of your man are all among his best

I was definitely wrong about this album on the first page

Think I've grown to love Disc 2 more than the 1st. The instrumental break in I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man is stellar, and the last two tracks are some of the best he's ever made.
Prince is so close to being the only artist that has made two true 5/5 albums imo
