The whole point is even if they "have enough money", if the product was still something you had enough enjoyment out of, you wouldn't buy it so you could show your support to someone's effort?
It differs from person to person, I suppose. But if something is good to a point where I want access to it at any time I want, I'm going to buy it.
Considering Fripp does stuff all the time and is so strict with copyright (which could be attributed to a misunderstanding or "not getting it" / who cares), I highly doubt he has, in your words, "enough money".

I'd say this is more eccentric than pretentious. It's also their most fun release, and when I'm in a certain mood is my favorite of theirs.

Album is tons of fun and the Belew/Fripp combo is beyond amazing.

Yeah their chemistry is incredible, so much great guitar work on here. It reminds me a lot of Remain in Light at certain points.

Yeah got a huge Talking Heads vibe going on.
Belew is so innovative man, love his vocals too especially on Matte Kudasai.

Yeah Belew's a versatile singer with a lot of character to his voice. I just read that he toured with Talking Heads after Remain In Light came out, the same year this was released, which makes complete sense given how it sounds.

Love the lyrics on this, think it's what makes it one of my favourite Crimson albums. Also such a perfect adaptation to the 80s.

If you like the mathy guitars found in the title track and Frame by Frame, I recommend you check out Robert Fripp & the League of Crafty Guitarists. Most notably "Show of Hands"

Crimson is like classical music, everybody knows them but nobody buys their music.

At this point I'm pretty convinced that you must be part of the royalty to listen to Crimson or sth like that.
